Campeche, Reunion, the Last 30 Years

“So. What’s the story of the past 30 years?”

Always a fun question to ask of old friends whom you haven’t connected with in a very long time. Brazil was very instrumental in the direction of all our lives. We’re reconnecting and sharing life narratives while digging up memories from 1995 and the 33 days we spent traveling through the Nordeste de Brasil.

Who made it back (this time)?

  • Richard, who is really the glue and planner for this event and lives in Floripa with his husband Jamar.
  • April, who also married a Brazilian and lives on the island.
  • Jared and his wife, Natalie
  • Susan and her husband, John
  • Tiffany and her son Ezra
  • Sarah

It is a smallish group, but part of a larger group of 56 who have connected on WhatsApp and Facebook. Not bad, given that we lived our experiences before the days of the internet and cell phones.

Most of our time together has been spent talking, telling stories, and remembering. More reflections to come, but I’m heading to the beach to swim and stroll :-).

All of us at dinner.
The never-ending, insanely beautiful beaches of Floripa (Campeche).

She also was dying.
